Situated at Shakashead, this NPO started in 2009 as an empty room. It now runs a free pre-school with registered children between the ages of 2 and 6. It also runs a soup kitchen for the children and some elderly and ill people in the community. KwaMama welcomes volunteers and donations and its permanent workers, from the community, are paid with tokens redeemable in the Token Shop on the premises. A couple of our members are very involved with KwaMama and oversee our monthly donation which is used for the purchase of fruit and vegetables, cleaning materials, etc.

*Sadly this initiative has ceased due to land ownership challenges within the Shakashead Community. We do hope the issues are resolved soonest so we can continue our work here.
